Our Background
In 1998, the company began building and hosting websites, although Patrick knew that his long-term goal for the company was to break new ground in custom web programming and applications. With a solid business plan and constant analysis to revise that plan, the company began building relationships with companies throughout Southern California.
PhD understood the impact that custom development would have on their clients' businesses, and began developing dynamic applications specific to those companies. The company worked closely with their clients to create functionality that started new online and ecommerce trends in the printing, promotional products, franchise and social service industries. PhD quickly realized that they were developing more than online applications, they were creating technologies that were an integral part of their clients' success.
While these relationships allowed the business to grow into the custom development of dynamic applications, it was the company's ability to provide innovative functionality that built their reputation. Since it's inception, PhD has doubled it's earnings each year and added key staff members to expand the company's expertise. Today PhD works with some of Southern California's most successful companies, including those in the franchising, advertising and ecommerce arenas.
Who We Are
While earning his first Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, it became very clear to Robert Patrick that using technology to develop custom functionality was in his future. As the founder, and CEO of one of Southern California's fastest growing web development companies, PhD Computing, Patrick is eager to adopt new strategies and new technologies.
"I have always been fascinated by the possibilities and the challenges of using different technologies to achieve business and marketing objectives. It's that integration that makes technology usable for the people who need it and not just technology jargon without application," Patrick says. "That's why I started a company that thrives on creativity and challenges. Technology gives us the tools to build the yet-unknown applications and functionality that improves the way our customers do business."
And, it's that entrepreneurial spirit that inspires the state-of-the-art web development the company provides to their customers. Since he started the company (at the age of 18), Patrick's leadership has landed PhD at the front of many industry's web trends. Working with some of Southern California's leading franchising, ad specialties and ecommerce companies, Patrick's team has developed functionality that has now become industry standards.
"Because we have a diverse knowledge base represented in our staff, we provide the technical knowledge and expertise needed to fulfill the vision our clients' have for their websites," Patrick adds.
Patrick's natural talents and constant learning have made his company successful, and have also contributed to the development of the industry. Patrick has contributed new technologies to the open source movement and the Linux environment-both at the early stages of their development.
